Been coming to Oomasa since the late 1980's. We are never disappointed with the food quality and the staff. I don't understand why the negative reviews but we been coming here for many years as returning customers and we are proof that this is an excellent restaurant to go to in Los Angeles.

The tonkatsu and salmon belly nigiri I ordered we're delicious. The men who make the sushi are really nice too. The only downside is the service was slow (to be seated, to order, and to get the check).

The tempura is the star of the show here. I got the #6 lunch special with tempura, sushi, sashimi and salad. The sashimi was cut too thick for my taste, the sushi was fine but the tempura was excellent. The shrimp was perfectly al dente, not overcooked and rubbery like you might find at many other places and all the vegetables were soft and tender with a perfectly light and crispy shell. Whoever is working the fryer back there really knows what they're doing! Baby changing table only in the women's restroom, daddies are not encouraged to be a part of their babies' lives here!
